Mourning Papers is a 5-week collage series facilitated by artist Michael Pajon and artist/licensed clinical social worker Bethanie Mangigian that invites participants to process grief through art-making. Whether processing grief related to a death, a life transition, or the state of the world, we all experience loss. This workshop series will offer a brief meditation to open the space, along with gentle prompts to allow participants to engage mindfully with their grief through the creative process in community with others. Although we conceive of all artmaking as intrinsically therapeutic, this workshop series is not a psychotherapy group and should not be used as a replacement for one. The closing portion of the workshop invites sharing about the art-making process and this could include references to grief and loss. Advance registration is appreciated as space is limited to 15 participants; however, it is not required and drop-ins are welcome as space allows.
